Sci-fi & horror freebies

PERMAFREE NOVELLA
Hi folks, and welcome to the new subs. With so many new subs it seemed like a good week to highlight the fact that the Neon series prequel, Neon Zero, is permafree and available from Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble. Click the box above! Back to discounts and offers on my other titles next week!

The Risen audiobook is with ACX at the moment for approval. They seem to have upped their game, so there might be codes available for that soon. Aria Gray did a great job at narration, performing the spoken parts; strange to listen to as a writer, but very enjoyable.

On the reading front, I'll be on A Feast For Crows by GRRM for a good while yet. I tend not to read quickly when writing. It was however my birthday recently, and I received The Curry Guy Bible, which I highly recommend if you are a curryhead like me. Below is my maiden recipe attempt, Lollipop Chicken.
Any Six Feet Under fans here? I'm into the final season. With a few years behind me now, since watching it for the first time in the early 2000s, two things strike me - it's a lot bleaker than I even remember. Maybe I focused on the dark humour before, but now, with so many excellently written dramadies since, it's less humour and more drama. It's great how a show about death can shine a light upon life. The second point is the character writing is even better than I remember, BUT a little too on the nose at times, with its convenient death-of-the-weeks. Still, hankies at the ready for THAT ending.

Another viewing pleasure this week was The Exorcist at the cinema, to support the cinema, but also to see this film - one of my favourites - on the big screen. The visual was great as always, but the sound was on another level. By far the best way to see it.

Anyway, I've rambled on enough. Check out Neon Zero, and Growlers below (also free) plus the other promos this week, and I'll see you beyond the pines.

Rumors about disturbing sightings in a remote village spread, although the Church tries to keep everything a secret. Is it just the ramblings of ignorant peasants, the work of the devil, or something completely different? An inquisitive stranger tries to solve the mystery in a discrete manner.

Any Office Space fans here? I stumbled upon Loudermilk on Amazon, which takes Ron Livingston's office-clenched goof and adds angst and alcoholism, and makes for an enjoyable watch. That's my recommendation of the week! Take a look at the following giveaways and titles, and enjoy the rest of your week :)

Two students will compete. Only one can win...

Jada Breaker is on track to graduate from Station Alpha when her best friend is murdered in a terrorist attack. Now, all Jada wants is to stop the violence between her home and Planet Earth - and there's only one person standing in her way.

Sticks and stones do break bones, and words will surely hurt you.

Staring down the barrel of a loaded 9mm is a wake-up call, especially when it's your husband's finger on the trigger. Brooklyn James's only thought is to take her baby and run. It's better to end up on the streets than suffer one more day beneath her husband's hand.

Post-apocalypse, zombies have now been put down and the human race is rebuilding. The last exhibit of that horrible time tells her story. "I don’t know how it happened. All I have are the stories he left me with…" A tale of betrayal, recovery and life after the zombie plague.

Vampires on a murder spree. A hitman out for revenge. How hard can it be to kill the undead?

While Joe Coffin served his time in prison, someone spilled his family’s blood. But when the massive hatchet man takes out the killer, something about his vengeance feels completely off. He never expected his suspicion would reveal corpses sporting the marks of a ruthless vampire.

Get to know me a little
I live in the UK, by day working for 3dtotal Publishing in Worcester and by night weaving my worlds. A borderline introvert, though the truth is I just tend to prefer my own company! So it's a good job I enjoy writing. I believe in socialist values and support Nottingham Forest. I have a cat named Phoebe. My favourite books have been The Shining, Virgin Suicides, Middlesex, His Dark Materials, the Dark Tower series, and books by Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins. I studied Philosophy and Creative Writing at Glamorgan University, and try to incorporate moral and philosophical elements in my own writing. My next book is Neon Driver, and for this, I will be diving more into the psyche and the murky waters between right and wrong. My last book was The Risen Part 2, a first-person narrative exploring an apocalyptic Wales from the viewpoint of a not-quite human girl called Ffion. I write listening to synthwave or soundtracks like Blade Runner and Last of Us. My last gig was Arcade Fire. My top 3 movies are The Shining, Donnie Darko, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space (ha!).

Suspense recommendation & free books

Grab it free!
Hi all. I have an easy reading recommendation for you this week - Lullaby by Daniel Barnett. You can check out my review here! Spoiler, the sun has disappeared, and strange goings-on are a-foot, wrapped around get writing.

On the personal side, it's hard to believe it's almost September. Where has the time gone? Adventures to South Wales aside, we've been tucked inside working from home, wondering where the summer sun is. I'm sure my youthful summers had blue skies. There'll be a small break in emails for a while as we move house and deal with all that excitement, and then it'll be back to the grindstone, and back to the writing.

Speak soon!
